First aid training

Mental Health First Aid Training

You are invited to join us for a 2-day course in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), at St Ives Rugby Club, on the 5th and 6th May 2022. Both days run 9.30 am-4.30 pm. On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a certificate by Mental Health First Aid England confirming your status as a Mental Health First Aider.

Who should attend this training?

This training is aimed at local community and sports groups, volunteers, charitable organisations, and small-medium-sized businesses.

Why should I take part?

1 in 4 members of the UK public suffer from mental health concerns every year, and 1 in 6 of us suffer every week. Yet, many of us find this a difficult topic to talk about.

Taking the Mental Health First Aid course can give you the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to have these important conversations. It’s not about learning to fix people- but how to identify when someone might need support, what they might be suffering from, and how you can support them to get the right help, so they can carry on with their lives.

Is there a cost?

Usually, the fee is £300 per trainee. However, thanks to the generosity of Pentreath, St Ives CLT, and St Ives RFC, the only fee is £30 per trainee to cover the cost of workbooks.

Organisations and businesses are asked to fund this themselves where possible, though there may be some funding available for individuals on low incomes.

How do I sign up?

To sign up, first, you need to fill out this form: tinyurl.com/StIvesMHFA2022
Then please forward your confirmation email to ‘dave.nathan@nhs.net’, and indicate if you would rather pay by PayPal or invoice.
Funds will need to be sent to a secure account held by the St Ives Community Land Trust, and your place is not confirmed until these have been received.
