St Ives Community Charter

Community Charter Launched

The St Ives Community Charter is now launched – thanks to the good offices of the all of those who attended events and turned out on the big day.

The Charter is available for download here

The Charter Group of volunteers are now in the process of contacting local community groups and other organisations to talk about the next steps. If you’d like to get involved, please email us.
The Charter was made possible through The Big Lottery Awards 4 All programme.

The Community Events
On Thursday 5 February 2015,  we opened the Old Town Fire Station/former St John Ambulance station building off St Andrew’s Street. Around 20 people took the opportunity to have a look around the ground floor space. This was helpful for shaping ideas for the building’s future use.

Afterwards, in the St Ives Archive Study Centre, Isabel Carlisle from Transition Network gave a talk about a  St Ives Community Charter – community asset mapping to safeguard the future for the common good. This was her second visit and she ably explained that a Community Charter is an expression of how people feel about where they live, its culture and how they want the parish to be.

St Ives CLT is part of a wider group who are organised events in February 2016 for people to come along and discuss what’s important to them about living in the area.

The events were on Friday 12th February 2016  at the Western Hotel St Ives and Saturday 13th February 2016 at Lelant Village Hall.

Thanks to everyone who took part.
