Matthew Hayter - CHAIR

Currently working in a local retail business. Formerly worked as an energy assessor delivering government heating and insulation grants. Worked for 20 years in the printing industry. Chairman Registered Charity SIJA–sailing skipper, trainer seamanship skills. Member of numerous local voluntary and community groups. Worked on St Ives Neighbourhood Plan. Co-ordinator of Parking Action St Ives (PASTI). Member Tate Community Committee.

Keith Jones BEng CEng MICE – TREASURER

Keith is a Chartered Civil Engineer employed by Stantec. Technical Author. Investment Board Proposals, current portfolio £160m. Director Auriga Project Management Ltd. Company Secretary Tremorna House Property Management Company Ltd. Trustee and Treasurer St Ives Jumbo Sailing Association (Registered Charity) During his career, Keith has worked in senior design engineering roles in highways, drainage, water networks, project management and consultancy.

Jill Block BA (Hons) FRSA – SECRETARY

Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts – active South West member. Board Member St Ives Community Fund (Registered charity). Secretary St Ives Harbour Users Stakeholder Group. Member Tate St Ives Members Committee. Trustee and Membership Secretary St Ives Jumbo Sailing Association (Registered charity). Honorary Appointments: Ministerial Appointment – Executive Board Member (ex-officio) of the Women’s National Commission at the Cabinet Office NDPB, served two terms of office for four years. During her career, Jill has been a Personnel Officer and General Secretary of an Independent Construction Trades Union, part-time lecturer, published author, and has worked in Customer Relations for a Cornish-based charity.

Martha Patrick

Martha worked for 30 years teaching in London. She is a former Head of Department and teacher ic Safeguarding. She moved to Cornwall and worked for 10 years as a Carer in the Community for Cornwall Care. She is a former Church Warden of St Ives Parish Church and is still an active member of the Parish Church Council. She worked at St Ives School as an exams invigilator. She has attended regular Safeguarding training and has been involved in the writing of Health and Safety Policies, reviews and risk assessment. With a knowledge of working in highly regulated environments she brings understanding and experience of governance.

Morag Robertson

Morag brings a wealth of experience in both the public and private sectors. She has worked in the Civil Service, for three arts charities, the BBC, Cornwall Football Association, and an independent bookshop. Currently, Morag is a partner in a Media Production Company, a filmmaker, a freelance journalist, and plays an active part in a variety of community organisations including Tate St Ives Community Liaison Committee Member.

She worked as a key Project team member for the successful acquisition of the former local hospital site by the Friends of Edward Hain.

Joel Trenchard

Joel is currently a Data Analyst in the water industry and recently graduated from the University of Exeter with a 1st Class BSc in Politics and International Relations. He brings to the Board knowledge of the local and national politics of housing, having worked with local councillors last year on an affordable housing awareness project. Growing up in Cornwall for 20 years, he has engaged with the local community through his time as Chair of the St Ives Bay Youth Council, and, during the Covid-19 lockdowns, working with local volunteers to provide a monthly cake-delivery service for elderly residents in Carbis Bay. He also brings experience of governance from his time as a Student Governor for Truro and Penwith College.

Matt Nellyer

Matt has lived in St Ives since an early age and worked for over twenty years in the hospitality sector. After a career change, he worked for several years for a Redruth-based registered social housing provider in the maintenance department. Here he worked closely with surveyors, tradesmen and contract managers helping to set up a program of stock condition surveying while in this role he gained a good working knowledge of building maintenance and management. After a brief stint at a local estate agent, Matt returned to the hospitality sector and now works for a well-established independent local holiday agency Matt brings with him a wealth of knowledge about building maintenance, health and safety and a good understanding of social housing needs.
