The Future of St Ives Library

St Ives CLT was part of a wider group set up in response to Cornwall Council announcing £1.8m cuts to its library services.

The Group organised a number of focus groups who are looked at the countywide and national pictures, researched ideas which the library in St Ives could put into place, suggested communications and fundraising, and examined Cornwall Council costings etc.

St Ives Town Council has now stepped in and operates the Library on behalf of Cornwall Council. The building was devolved to St Ives Town Council in 2018 and has only to be run as a library for 25 years.

In 2019, the Visit St Ives Information Centre was moved from The Guildhall into the library, creating the new St Ives Library & Information Service. In doing so, there was refurbishment in the entrance area to cater for the Information Centre.

St Ives CLT is keeping a watching eye on the future of the building and the library service.
