St Ives Community Land Trust is proud to be able to announce that we have been awarded £13,340 from the National Lottery Community Fund.
Jill Block, St Ives CLT Secretary said, “Funding is to help local volunteer networks continue with their excellent COVID-19 Coalition work over the winter months. We will be focussing on winter wellbeing and will be signposting to helpful services and businesses that continue during the lockdown and beyond.”
Last spring, we saw members of our community steered by the St Ives COVID coalition group, collect food from ASDA and Co-Op and distribute it at St Ives Rugby Club and Palemon Best Skate Park entrance, deliver food parcels, medicines and the like to people who were isolating. Also, for those needing to bring a smile, Carbis Bay Bakers delivered cake once a week to their neighbours.
Over the coming winter months, there are Neighbourhood Link volunteers who aim to support those shielding or in isolation as well as finding volunteers to help with shopping, food-shares, prescriptions and befriending. More information will be available over the coming weeks, keep an eye on the Community Land Trust website (www.stivesclt.org.uk) or their social media pages which will be regularly updated, the COVID-19 local information leaflet will be printed and distributed throughout the St Ives Parish once again. There is a dedicated telephone number available to receive confidential enquiries 07880 436 478.
St Ives BID will be continuing to provide updates of businesses that are open and especially those that are offering takeaway food during the lockdown.
This Christmas we will be launching a new initiative, ‘Make an Extra Plate.’ Do you know someone who will be alone during Christmas? Or will you be able to cook an extra plate?
With our ‘Make an Extra Plate’ initiative, we will distribute food at Christmas to those that are alone this Christmas! We do need volunteers to make this happen!
Contact us for more information. Volunteer ‘to make an extra plate,’ or if you would like a plate call us at 01736 791677 or 07880 436 478 or email us.
